Dreamspire Gala Ball 2024

Dreamspire hosted its first annual gala ball with a vital mission: to support individuals with special needs in accessing essential therapy. Without therapy, individuals with special needs struggle with skills, behaviours, emotions, and independence, which could lead to regression in their overall functioning and quality of life.

Sadly, millions of Australians grapple with neurodevelopmental disorders, and a significant portion of young people face speech and language difficulties. While the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) aims to provide support, many are left behind due to funding constraints.

The support at the gala ball directly impacted the lives of those in need. By bridging funding gaps, the event ensured that individuals could continue therapy without financial strain. Additionally, contributions enabled the purchase of assistive communication devices, empowering non-verbal individuals to express their basic needs and participate more in the community.

Through the support of everyone at the event, Dreamspire aimed to support a minimum of 30 families in providing access to essential therapy services and Alternative and Augmentative Communication Devices. Together, we made a meaningful impact, raising awareness surrounding the fact that everyone has the basic right to communicate and participate in their community, regardless of their abilities or challenges

Where Your Fundraiser Contributions Make a Difference

Currently, the NDIS aims to provide support to 500,000 individuals over the next 5 years. This means that millions of individuals are left behind, and that many individuals are left without the support they need to develop basic communication and life skills.

The cost of therapy to support one individual with a moderate disability can range between $30,000-$35,000 per year. The NDIS often only subsidises up to half of this cost. The cost of an assistive communication device to allow a non-verbal individual to communicate their basic needs can range up to $8,395.

We aimed to raise funds so that individuals without financial support can access ongoing therapy and communication devices.

Since the Ball, Dreamspire has made a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families by:

  • Providing Financial Support to 9 Families: We have helped bridge critical funding gaps, ensuring that individuals can continue receiving essential therapy without disruption. By offering this support, we have alleviated financial stress for families and enabled individuals to maintain progress in their therapeutic journey.

  • Enhancing Communication for Non-Verbal Individuals: We have purchased a high-tech communication device, empowering non-verbal individuals to express themselves, connect with others, and develop essential communication skills. This device is now being used to teach alternative communication methods, fostering greater independence and social engagement.

Through these initiatives, Dreamspire continues to break down barriers and create opportunities for individuals to thrive.
